When I was a child, I struggled with social interactions. I had an unusual name that other kids liked to pick on me about, plus I was kind of an odd ball. I also did not really fit in with my family. So, when I needed to get away from things, I would climb a tree with a book, find a comfortable branch to lean on and completely disappear. Trees were my safe haven.
Now that I‘m older, I‘m still connected to the trees. When I started sculpting with wire, I realized that when I just let my hands create without thinking, I was always creating trees. That’s how all of this got started. I can't climb them to read, but each of the trees I create has a book locket hanging somewhere in the tree. There's even a message inside the locket explaining why I create trees.
I hope you find something that you enjoy in the trees I’ve created here. Each 6 inch tree takes about 5 hours to create and no two are alike.
